Clee's Experience
|
 |
Late in her third pregnancy, Clee expressed interest in meditation to a midwife she had just chosen to help her with her birth, which she wanted to be completely natural. The midwife was trained in the Calm Birth method, and she recommended that Clee call the Calm Birth office in Ashland. The result was that even though Clee received the method only eight days before the birth, as the following interview reveals, it had a profound influence on the birth, which was a triumph. The following account of the birth testifies to the fact that even if a woman is introduced to the method a week before labor begins, it can transform the birth experience.
EXCERPTS FROM POSTNATAL INTERVIEW WITH CLEE AND AUSTEN
Clee: The Calm Birth practice definitely gave me a sense of being more centered, calm and present
In the actual labor I was able to be more in the moment, breathing and opening, not resisting as Id done in my first birth. Listening to the audio guide and practicing helped me be open to the contractions. That was amazing. It was the most powerful, wonderful experience. It was a journey and an adventure rather than a scary drawn-out nightmare.
Austin: After receiving the Calm Birth method and before the baby was born it was really rich with magical experiences.
Clee: I was really calm
I was able to use my voice and make these real guttural sounds
It felt so good. I felt so grounded and rooted in strength, like the Earth
I was very conscious of my breath through the whole way. The breath was the physical manifestation of the other part that was helping me remain open, helping me be flexible and open. It was the Womb Breathing
Between contractions I was taking time to breathe and center myself.
Clee: I thought about all the women that were giving birth in that moment and all those who had given birth. I was really able to ground myself in feelings of power and the beauty of it.
Austen: She was subconsciously doing the Womb Breathing. Her body reverted to that naturally
.At one point the midwives commented that it was a great day for other women across the world giving birth because they could tap into the energy Clee was experiencing.
Clee: The birth was really great. It was beautiful. It was wonderful. It really went smoothly. It was really calm. She came out and she was just sitting there in my lap and I rubbed her back. It was a really peaceful space for her to come into. Everything had been peaceful.
Clee: With the Womb Breathing I was definitely able to do what I wanted to do, which was to open up and allow the universe of life to be poured through me, to be able to embrace it and enjoy it and see it as a real gift. When you fully open up to it, theres an amazing, strong, powerful love flowing through you! Its an amazing gift!
