Calm Births

ELIAS JOHN

PARENTS:
Jennifer and Max
BIRTH DATE:
February 25, 1999
BIRTH WEIGHT:
11 lbs 12 oz

Jennifer's Experience
Jeniffer and Max were really looking to bring meditation into their lives. It was Jeniffer’s pregnancy and their desire for a natural childbirth that brought them to meditation in the Calm Birth program. They succeeded in meditating with their child in the womb and in realizing that meditation would be a perfect postnatal family path.

EXCERPTS FROM POSTNATAL INTERVIEW WITH JENNIFER AND MAX

Max: [Visualizing the child inside himself with the Practice of Opening] It was pretty amazing, awesome. It allowed me to get a close bond with my child. I could experience the pregnancy for all three of us.

Jeniffer: By the time of the birth the Womb Breathing practice was like an unconscious thing. It just became natural. I think that definitely helped me during the labor…I know the deep breathing helped throughout. It was great. I couldn’t have asked for anything better.

Max: There was all this smiling and then the baby came out and the doctor came in just to catch the baby.

Jeniffer: It definitely was liberating. We look back and say, wow; we did that all by ourselves. It was just a process I took my body through.

Jeniffer: The doctor said he (the baby) was very alert. The minute he was out of the womb he was wide-eyed, looking around. I didn’t expect that.

Max: I think that’s due to the calmness of the labor.
